The day of the Regional Talent Show arrived…and it was a disaster. Not the girls; they and all the other contestants were amazingly resilient and did great.
It all started when the time had to be rescheduled because the venue had double-booked it. And then when we arrived, the show started more than an hour late! And then, nothing worked. The sound system, the mics, you name it. So many of the younger kids (who were up first) had to start and then re-start their acts because of the many technical mishaps. So stressful! And on top of that, they put a mic up against the keyboard speakers instead of doing a line-out. The sound was not good, to say the least. I hope the people in charge never choose this venue again. It wasn’t like this at all last year (at a different venue.)
As audience members (and especially as parents), everyone was cringing. Dad, Debbie, Karen, and Zach had all driven over an hour to attend the show, and I felt bad for even inviting them and them having to sit through all of that.
The girls all did well. I was so proud of Adrianna for speaking up and advocating for herself and her sisters when it came to the keyboard and its sound.
Adrianna and Cate both won in their categories. Sadly, Bree didn’t. Poor Breezy had the largest amount of competition and even so, I still was surprised she didn’t win because her piece was far more complicated than the one the girl who won played. Although that girl’s was an original composition, so I think that is why? There were many tears (both by Bree and me) and this moment was one of the sweetest of the night.

I don’t have the heart right now to post videos or pictures. The pictures and videos are better overall from the first competition anyway. I’m still so disappointed by the overall experience. But also SO proud of my girls (and all the kids who competed) because of how they still did their best in spite of less-than-ideal circumstances.
One extra story I do need to share though is this sweet moment with the little girls and their new fancy dresses. Cate was adamant that she wanted a pink dress for the competition. She even chose pink for her manicure earlier this week with that in mind. So I searched all over for the perfect pink dress. And then, of course, I had to buy Bree a new dress, too. (Adrianna already had another fancy dress to wear.) They enjoyed twirling the layers in front of a large mirror while waiting for the show to start.
