Narrow Miss

Praising God for the narrow miss in what could have been an extremely bad car accident on the commute home from work on I-70. My heart is still pounding. And I definitely think we better get those new tires on the car asap.

I am embarrassed to say that this one would have been my fault. I was checking the lane next to me to see if it was clear to get over. When I quickly looked back, it was to see that the cars in my current lane had slammed on their brakes. Nice.

So I had to swerve into the next lane (that I now knew was free of traffic) and I overdid it on the wet road. It all happened so fast. I could kick myself because I know over-correcting is bad. And I also know that we are due for new tires on the car which probably didn’t help either.

So then I started fishtailing, ended up over-correcting again trying to avoid hitting other cars (ARGH!) and ended up doing one of those fancy maneuvers you see in movies where the car turns all the way around and ends up parked facing the opposite direction on the shoulder. Looking at the semi that was in that nearest lane. And wondering how the heck to get back onto the interstate since I was now facing the wrong direction.

I feel very lucky (& embarrassed.)
