I am pleased to announce that we now only have ONE child in diapers. Yippee! Just as in walking and talking, once Bree decides she is ready for something, she just takes off quickly! The key words being “once BREE DECIDES.”
On Monday, January 6th, she had finally gone on the little potty after six hours of sitting on it (with small breaks). The next day, it took 2.5 hours of trying. Then we had a few busy days away from home so we didn’t have more consistent time to work on it. But then the next week we started in again. She insisted on continuing to use the small potty and it HAD to be in the living room. No problem. I am just happy that we are making progress!
Then a few days ago, we were at the library. Bree hadn’t gone to the bathroom since early that morning. I still had her wearing diapers when we ran errands and overnight so she had a diaper on. Bree told me that she needed to pee. Since she had a diaper on and I didn’t think she would use the big potty there (since she wouldn’t use it at home) I told her she could go in her diaper. But she didn’t want to. So off to the bathroom we went.
When Bree saw the big potty, she changed her mind and got scared. But she obviously needed to go so I put her on it anyway. She was very scared about falling in so I reassured her many times that I wouldn’t let her fall in. Finally, finally after a long wait we heard the glorious tinkle in the potty. There was much rejoicing.
Anyway, here were are only two weeks later and Bree is now wearing panties exclusively, even at night. No accidents (so far) and she is really good about telling me when she needs to go. I am so proud of her!
