Well Child Checkups for Adrianna and Bree

Adrianna and Bree had their well child checkups on Tuesday. Adrianna was quite overdue for a checkup and also overdue for a few immunizations. I had warned her that she was going to get three shots and that it would hurt but would also be over quickly. I also let her know that if she was brave about it that we could go out for ice cream afterward.

The promise of ice cream worked wonderfully. Perhaps a little too well. She was actually excited for her appointment. But once she got her shots, I wondered if I’d downplayed the ouch factor of the shots a little too much. Poor girl. She cried and it made me choke up to see her tears. But she was still very brave and was completely fine before we even left the doctor’s office. When we got to Cold Stone, she was flitting around and climbing up a light pole in excitement, so I knew she was back to her old self.

I am really glad Bree didn’t have to get any shots. It was hard enough to get her to cooperate as it was. She is definitely 3. The doctor was able to complete her entire exam okay with the exception of checking out her teeth as Bree refused to open her mouth. I told the doctor that Bree has her first dentist appointment on Friday so we decided the dentist could deal with that.

I’m a little nervous about how Bree’s dentist appointment is going to go. I’ve delayed having her seen until now because I know how strong-willed my little Breezy can be when she wants to be. I am sure they see that a lot though. I’ve been talking up the dentist appointment to her today, trying to build up anticipation, excitement and what to expect in the hopes that it will encourage her to be a little more compliant about opening up her mouth for the exam.

Adrianna’s stats:

  • Height: 52 inches – 80th percentile
  • Weight: 55.6 pounds – 50th percentile

Bree’s stats:

  • Height: 39 inches – 85th percentile (they took her length laying down as she didn’t want to stand up straight to have her height measured)
  • Weight: 33.6 pounds – 60th percentile (I’m very happy that her weight is great since she is such a picky eater!)

Both girls remain consistently tall and healthy. 🙂
