April 20 – Adrianna’s Birthday!
Our first day at Disneyland coincided with Adrianna’s sixth birthday. Our Ramada was right across the street from Disneyland, so we were able to walk to the park. Adrianna proudly wore her Birthday pin that Sarah had given her. And just like Sarah said, all the employees and many visitors who noticed it made sure to wish Adrianna a “Happy Birthday”. It didn’t take long for Adrianna, reveling in all the attention, to begin pointing out the pin to people who didn’t notice it on their own. Our little (sometimes) extrovert. She easily makes friends wherever she goes.
Once we entered into the main gates of the Disneyland, we picked up a map. Adrianna enjoys looking at maps (and often makes her own), so she promptly began mapping out what she wanted to do as we walked down the Main Street. (Side note: now that we are home, she still enjoys looking at the Disney map and often pulls out her magnifying glass to get a better view.)
In front of Sleeping Beauty’s Castle
One of the first things we did was visit Sleeping Beauty’s castle, at Adrianna’s request.
Greg and Adrianna on the Carousel
The first ride taken was the Carousel.
Amber and Adrianna take a ride with Dumbo
Our second ride was the Dumbo ride. This one is pretty popular; it always has a long wait.
Waiting in line to meet Minnie
Finally meeting Minnie
Unfortunately, we didn’t get to meet nearly as many characters this year. We must have had bad timing. But we did get to meet Minnie, which was great since we’d missed her last time.
Minnie’s House
Greg and Adrianna ride on Gadget’s Go Coaster
Greg and Adrianna in Tarzan’s Tree House
Adrianna took these next two pictures of Greg and I. They turned out great! She requested we make silly faces for the second one.
More Disneyland fun
Goofy’s House
Bree enjoyed walking around Goofy’s house.
Greg later told me that he hadn’t noticed I’d dressed the girls in matching outfits until the day was half over.
Pooh’s Corner
Of course, we had to pay a visit to one of our favorite rides from our last trip to Disney – Pooh’s Corner.
Casey Junior ride
Bree didn’t get to go on all the rides, which meant Greg and I had to take turns who got to ride and who got to sit one out. But she did get to go on quite a few. We took several different boat rides and also visited the It’s a Small World ride. We had avoided the Small World ride last time we’d visited Disney since the lines were always crazy long, but we happened to walk by once on this day and noticed the line was a decent wait, so we got to go on it this year. I can see why it is popular; it is a cute ride. I would guess it was Bree’s favorite of the day. Not only was there music, but there was a lot of moving characters to look at. She sat on my lap and chattered away, busily pointing at different sights on the ride.
We didn’t go to the fireworks show on this evening, mainly because we were all pretty exhausted after a long day. Once again, Bree didn’t get a nap (other than a quick snooze on Daddy’s shoulder) and it was starting to show by the end of the day. Disneyland is definitely easier when you don’t have a toddler in tow.
Wow, looks like fun! A kid’s paradise!
