Adrianna has a class at Options that is called “Fun with Language”. They often draw a little picture and write a few sentences about their week. It is fun for me to peruse through her notebook and see what is on Adrianna’s mind. Many of the pages include “I love my Mommy and Daddy” type things. Warms my heart.

Here are a couple of my favorites:

This first one was written after Adrianna and Bree played out in the snow back in October. It says, “I love my mom because she let me play in the snow. It’s my sister’s first day in the snow. My sister did not touch the snow.”

I am really proud of how well she sounded out and spelled many of her words. She is getting better at identifying and including consonant teams when she writes her own words. We haven’t learned the sound for the “ay” or “ow” sounds yet but she did an “ae” (for “play”) and “oe” (for “snow”) because she knows a silent e can make a previous vowel say its name, so I say she gets points for remembering her other spelling rules.

This next one is so sweet. She wrote it in class the day after I had my surgery. It says, “I love you, Mommy. I am sorry you are sick, Mommy. I wish you were not sick.”
Writing

This one we did today as a part of our regular homeschool day. It was Adrianna’s idea to do so; I think perhaps they get extra credit. She first dictated what she wanted to say and I wrote it on a white board for her to copy. It says, “I like my Pollies. My Pollies are fun. I like my new fairy Polly because she came with a playset.”
