Our little Breezy girl is becoming Miss Independent. Long gone are the days where she would let me help her eat. Now she wants to do it all by herself. Even when she can’t seem to get the food from her bowl to her mouth using a spoon. Even if it results in much frustration on her part. She is also a very picky eater. She loves fruit but will not touch veggies. Her favorite food that she never refuses is pizza. Even if the pizza is a little spicy she’ll eat it, fuss a bit because of the spiciness, and then pick it right back up for another bite. And she consistently holds her pizza upside-down.
She has developed a love for shoes. Both her shoes and Adrianna’s shoes. This is another area of frustration for Miss Independent because she hasn’t yet figured out how to put them on herself. Sometimes I have to take the shoes away from her because she gets so frustrated.
Though she chatters a lot, Bree still doesn’t have a lot of intelligible words. She also understands much of what we say to her. She can also point to pictures in a book if I am asking her to find certain objects (especially kitties and rainbows). I can ask her if she wants a bottle of milk and she comes running as fast as her adorably chubby little legs will allow. It doesn’t seem to matter that milk always comes before a nap or bedtime. Speaking of bedtime, after her first 16 months were spent in a nightmare of very sleepless nights, the last 5 months have been amazing. I can put her in her crib fully awake and she will chatter away and drift off to sleep on her own. And sleep all night. Oh, sweet sleep.
Bree has several stuffed animals that she will “allow” to remain in her crib with her. Her beloved seahorse, a pink bunny, 2 white bears (one of them named Wa-Wa by Adrianna when she was a toddler whom Bree also now calls Wa-Wa) and Adrianna’s care bear. If I try to sneak in other stuffed toys, Bree makes it her mission to throw them back out immediately.
Some of Bree’s words:
- Mommy/Momma
- Daddy
- Bee (Bree)
- Foam (phone)
- Wa-Wa (the white bear’s name)
- Ah-yun (all done)
- Bye-Bye
- Buh-Bow (Rainbow or Bubble)
- Na-nuh (Banana)
- baa (Bath)
- Bah (Ball)
Bree is no longer shy about being dropped off at the babysitter’s (she loves Nette’s house) or at MOPS/Sunday School. (Mom, do you recognize Bree’s shirt?)
Though Bree plays well independently, she also loves to play with her big sister. Bree definitely admires her sissy. Adrianna is pretty good (most of the time) in letting Bree play alongside her. And Breezy loves books. She loves pulling them off of shelves, flipping through the pages and also enjoys being read to. As soon as I sit down on the floor with a book, she will hustle over and back up that sweet little rear end and plop backward into my lap.
I just love picking up Bree and holding her close. I love the feel of her sweet baby-ness in my arms. I am so glad she lets me kiss all over her chubby little cheeks. She brings so much joy to our family.
This Grammy wants to feel that sweet baby-ness and her cute chubby cheeks right now! Such adorable pictures! Love her puckered up nose and her big blue eyes. And I’m so glad she has blessed you with SLEEP.
I do recognize that shirt 🙂 Looks really cute on her! I have a picture of you in it too. Do you have that picture? Hope so! Bree is so adorable! 🙂
I can picture her babbling to her stuffed friends when all of a sudden she spots an intruder to the regular group! Haha she’s a cutey!
