Another picture-heavy catch-up post.
Playdate with Alexis – August 1
I met Alexis’s mom, Becky, at the CHEC conference in June and our girls met each other at Spanish class over the summer at Angela’s. They took an instant liking to each other, drawing princesses together after class. So Becky and I decided to get them together for a playdate. We went to Fat Cats to go bowling (kids bowl free during the summer) and then after a quick lunch we went to the nearby fountains where the girls proceeded to get soaked.
Bree – August 2
Bree doesn’t like to eat her corn, but she sure likes to play with it.
Fun at the Flatirons Mall – August 3
Fun in the Front Yard – August 3
Adrianna’s First Phone Call – August 4
Adrianna just got her first phone call (from someone other than family). Her little friend, Aubriana, called. Adrianna and Aubriana. So cute! They had just met at the park on a Pneuma park date and really hit it off!
Donation – August 4
I donated 7 boxes of items to Goodwill. Had to take a picture as I was proud of the accomplishment. Somehow, my house still remains full of clutter. I guess every step helps though.
Greg’s downtown office at Wayin – August 5
Fun with Greg’s camera – August 7
Reimer Family Visit – August 8-14
Greg’s family came to visit for a week. On Tuesday, August 9th, we headed downtown to the 16th Street Mall to walk around and also to meet Greg for lunch. We ate at Noodles and Company, where it was very crowded.
We had spaghetti for dinner, which is one of Bree’s favorites.
We ended our evening with a game of Big Boggle, a Reimer family favorite.
On Wednesday, August 10th, we met Jim Horning for dinner at PF Changs and followed it up with some ice cream from Little Man Ice Cream.
On Thursday, August 11th, we went to the new Ikea. I found the desk that matched pretty closely to the one I’d imagined in my mind for Adrianna and I to share this year for school.
On Friday, August 12th, we took a walk along Boulder Creek and around the Pearl Street Mall.
Charlie and Adrianna playing Pooh sticks.
There was a performer for children at the mall. The kids enjoyed playing with the hula hoops, musical instruments and scarves. Grammy also bought them kazoos, which they still enjoy playing.
On Saturday, August 13th, Marilyn and Jess joined me at my monthly Bunco night. (The hat we are wearing gets to be worn by the person who rolls the most recent bunco. Whomever is the last bunco roller of the night gets to take it home and add a decoration to it before bringing it back the following month.)
While we were at Bunco, the guys took the kids out to dinner and to the Peter Pan Park.
Chloe – August 10
On August 8th, I brought Chloe to see a neurologist regarding her vestibular syndrome. She had gotten to the point where she could hardly stay upright and seemed miserable. The antibiotics weren’t helping and when we went to visit on August 10th, it was obvious that she was getting worse. She was anxious and couldn’t get herself upright though she tried to constantly, resulting in her laying on her side kicking her legs as moving her body around in circles. When Greg and I saw her, it was obvious to us the decision that needed to be made. Amid many tears, we said goodbye to our sweet Chloe. I may have to do a more comprehensive post at a later date if I can. I am still having a very hard time with her being gone.
BBQ at Quint and Julie’s – August 20
Quint and Julie invited us over to their place for a bbq. Jeremy and Amy and their kids were also there. The kids enjoyed the zip line while we were there.
After it got dark, we gathered around the firepit for smores. Bree was so tired that she fell asleep in my arms.
First day of Homeschooling for 1st Grade – August 23
Our first day of homeschooling for 1st grade went fabulously. I just wish every day could go as smoothly. Looking forward to this year.
Bree – August 24
Bree loves dog beds and claims them as her own personal chairs.
My Little Tornado – August 26
Sometimes I wonder why I even bother cleaning my house when I have a little tornado following me around. And yes, that is macaroni all over the floor.
Strep, but not strep – August 25-Sept 1
On Thursday, August 25th, I became feverish and had a sore throat. By the weekend, I was very sick and spent the entire weekend in bed. On Sunday, I looked into my throat and saw the white pus pockets so typical of strep. I also had all the symptoms of strep (fever, chills, achy, sore throat and NO cold symptoms) so I thought for sure that is what I had. So I went in to Urgent Care to get tested. The doctor agreed with me after looking at my throat, but the 5 minute test came back negative. And the test they send off for further confirmation also came back negative. They put me on amoxycillin and within 24 hours, all symptoms were gone except for the exhaustion. Two days later, still exhausted, I called my doctor because I’d seen online that you should call if the amoxycillin was causing you to be extremely tired. So they tested me for mono, since it can have similar symptoms to strep. Thankfully, that test came back negative. A couple days later, the exhaustion began to lessen on its own. Still not sure what I had that caused me to be sick for a week, but I am glad for the medicine that got rid of it, even if it wasn’t the strep we’d all thought it was when the meds were prescribed to me.
Dancing – August 31
The girls love to dance to the music found on the “demo” mode on our keyboard.
Children’s Music Academy – August 31
Adrianna attends the Children’s Music Academy once a week. It is a class of about 8 children between the ages of 4 and 6 and she loves it. One parent attends and participates with each child. (Greg and I usually take turns.) This week, they had their first solo in front of the class that involved them both playing AND singing to a song in their music books. Here is a video of Adrianna practicing her solo.
Great post, Amber. Love all the updates and photos. Thanks!
Ditto from me! Lots of good memories! Bree has a sparkle in her eyes playing with the corn! Can we see a picture of the new desk in your house?
