My sister, Karen, had her third seizure on October 10th. It had been a couple of years since her last one so she had weaned herself (slowly and safely) off of her seizure medication in the hopes that everything was better. She had been off of the medication completely for three months. Thankfully, she was at her in-laws’ house when this newest seizure happened (her mother-in-law is a nurse) so she was well taken care of immediately. But we were all still shocked and saddened that it occurred again.
So her neurologist wants her to get back on medication. This time, they are trying a different kind that I think has less side effects. But she has to get up to the full dosage gradually. She also is not able to drive for 3 months. So once her husband, Zach, had to go back to work we all decided it would be best if Karen was not home alone for awhile, at least until she is on the full dosage of the medication. So the family has all been taking turns spending time with Karen.
Karen came to stay a couple nights with me last week. I really enjoyed having her here and so did Adrianna. Adrianna is always begging Aunt Karen to play with her or talking her ear off about Mario and Princess Peach. (Actually, Adrianna chatters to everyone nonstop about Mario and Princess Peach, so it was nice for Greg and I to get a break on that count!)
On Thursday, my mom drove down and stayed the night too. Friday was a beautiful day so we decided to all go to the zoo. We were happy to see the new baby giraffe as well as the other two young giraffes. So adorable!
Even Bree enjoyed the zoo. She was happy and content in her stroller while we enjoyed the afternoon.
We ended up our enjoyable afternoon with dinner at Fazoli’s.
