Adrianna is to the age where she can open her own car door and buckle her own seat belt when she wants to. The key words in that sentence being “when she wants to.”
Last night, after a nice meal at Quiznos and dessert from Cold Stone, we were walking to our car in some light rain. I asked Adrianna if she could please buckle her own seat belt so I wouldn’t have to stand in the rain longer. She said she wanted me to do it. I reminded her that I would have to stand in the rain longer to do so, but she still wanted me to do it.
Since it wasn’t raining too hard and it was warm outside, I didn’t insist that she do it herself but I did want to try to use the situation to get her to think about others a little more. So as I was buckling her up, I reminded her again that it isn’t very nice to make your mom stand out in the rain to do something you are perfectly capable of doing yourself.
Adrianna looked at me and sincerely said, “I know. You’re a good Mom. I love you.”
Aww, so who schooled who?
Awwww! hehe What do you say to that?
