I have changed the privacy settings on my Flickr account so that most of the photos are only visible to my approved contacts on that site. I hated to do it, because that means anyone wishing to view them would have to become a registered Flickr user (free) and request to be a contact of mine in order to be granted permission to view them. But I felt it had to be done after I saw a couple of my photos “favorited” by a Flickr user who was very questionable (based on the other photos they had favorited). Even though I had setup my photos to not be searchable or tagged in their searching system, I felt it necessary to take it one step further and only allow people I know to view the majority of them.
If you want to view my photo albums and have setup up a userid with Flickr, let me know and we can add each other as contacts so that they are viewable to you. So sorry for the inconvenience but my girls’ safety comes first. Thanks for understanding!
And in case you are wondering if I am worried about my blog, I am not as worried about it as I was my Flickr account (for now) since I have this personal blog setup to NOT be indexed or listed in search engines (e.g. Google) so it would be much more difficult to even find it. However, I am considering the idea of moving my personal blog to another location. I haven’t decided for certain yet, so we’ll see.
I can completely understand why you would do this. I felt the same way about privacy with my bog, facebook etc since we’re expecting. You just never know who is looking at your precious photos or reading about your life. Kind of scary.
