We hit 16 weeks tomorrow. We had our pregnancy checkup today. The doctor didn’t get to spend a lot of time with us as he was rushing out for a delivery, but we got to hear the baby’s heartbeat again, which is so reassuring. I always feel a little nervous before our appointments, dreading the possibility of bad news again. So hearing the baby’s strong and healthy heartbeat is such a blessing and very comforting for me. Adrianna was with us this time and got to listen to the heartbeat with us. When the doctor asked her if she thought she was getting a little sister or a little brother, she answered, “Brother.” Her answer definitely changes with the day.
Surprisingly, I have lost a few pounds since the last appointment 6 weeks ago. Hmmm…maybe I won’t end up weighing as much as Greg by the end of this pregnancy after all. That would be nice! My belly continues to grow though. I cannot believe how much it is popping out already. I need to have Greg take a picture.
My feet are already starting to swell! The doctor told me this is normal because of the summer heat. I was pregnant with Adrianna mostly through the wintertime, so the summer pregnancy thing is new to me. It also means I need to buy more maternity clothes since my sweaters from my first pregnancy just won’t cut it in this 90+ degree heat. But I am thrilled to be able to go out and buy little tanks and dresses. And it is nice to not have to feel self-conscious about the weight around my middle (for once) since now I have an excuse for it to be there. My self-esteem has really gone up these days. Though I am uncomfortable a lot and still somewhat tired, my energy has picked up a little and I feel great. And I can actually make it through a day without taking a nap. At least some of the time. I love this stage of pregnancy. Greg often tells me that I have a “glow”. 🙂
We have our next appointment and an ultrasound scheduled in 4 weeks. I am very anxious to find out if the baby will be a he or a she.
I am glad everything is going so well 🙂 I am anxious to know if its a he or she also!
Oh Amber, I’m so glad too that everything is going well. Hope we can see you with that “glow.” Sounds like you had a great time in Wyoming.
Amber i am so excited! Oh man i think Aidan is cheering for another boy, or i guess the second boy cousin on our side of the family. 🙂 I am glad all is well and you are feeling better, that’s always a plus.
I’m so happy for you and thankful for a good doctor’s visit. Enjoy this glowing time!
That is all GREAT news! I’d been wanting to hear an update. So, you plan to find out the sex of the baby?!?! I think Zack & I decided that we will not find out the sex of our first baby so it’ll be a surprise to everyone including us. Some co-workers did that and it made the whole experience so fun for us (we sat around & used old wives tales to figure out if they were having a boy or a girl). The biggest downside to not finding out what you are having has to be that shopping for all neutral stuff would be hard and if you’re a curious person, the wait will be really difficult (in my case, Zack would be fine but I’ll be really antsy!). We can’t wait to hear the news about baby Reimer. I am voting you’ll have a second Girl!
Thrilled for your encouraging and uplifting news! I love maternity clothes too! 🙂 Have fun shopping and we definitely want to see pics of you too!
