Adrianna’s Birthday Week

Adrianna turned four this week. FOUR. I cannot believe my baby girl (or “big girl”, as she often reminds me) is four years old already.

We were planning on having a family party last weekend but, unfortunately, we got some bad weather instead. Denver was hit with a heavy and very wet snow and then it rained for many hours. The weird thing was that the rain didn’t melt the snow.

Even though it was a bummer to have to cancel her birthday party due to weather, we made the best of it.

Playing in the Snow

Adrianna enjoyed playing in the snow in our yard and she also got to play in the snow with our neighbor a few houses down, Megan.

I took a vacation day on Monday and Adrianna and I had a nice birthday lunch at Macaroni Grill. We both ordered one of our favorite dishes: Fettuccine Alfredo. One of the servers sang “Happy Birthday” to her in Italian. After lunch, we headed to Walmart to pick up some groceries, including the makings for cupcakes. After Greg was done with work, we headed to Boston Market for dinner at Adrianna’s request.

On an unrelated note, Adrianna put on a pair of Greg’s safety goggles and told me that she was Daddy. Then she started talking to me in a low “Daddy” voice.

Adrianna and the Safety Goggles

On Tuesday, Adrianna and I went to Julie’s house for a MOPS get-together. Adrianna enjoys playing with Arich, Livvie, and Sara and I enjoy hanging with the moms (Julie, Ruth, Alyssandra, and Monika). 🙂 Alyssandra made birthday cake since it was both Adrianna and Ruth’s birthday. The girls all got tiaras to wear and Arich got a prince’s crown.

Adrianna got a little ceramic painting set from Arich and a Tinkerbell coloring book from Livvie. She loves both.

Painting

Later in the afternoon, it was warm enough to pull out Adrianna’s water table. Much excitement ensued as I filled it up with water. After awhile, she must have decided that it needed some more water, as I turned to see her very slowly walking through the living room and kitchen with several cups full of water from the bathroom.

Gathering some more water

We also made cupcakes for Adrianna to share with her friends at childcare on Wednesday. Adrianna loved being the birthday girl and center of attention. She was also delighted with the Tinkerbell helium balloon and Tinkerbell plates.

As for the canceled birthday party from last weekend, we are hoping that this coming weekend will work out better.
