At the end of June, one of Greg’s friends from college, Dave Dalke, came for a visit with his family. Dave and Sherri have three children: Ben (almost 6), Drew (3), and Jenna (almost 2). This was great news for Adrianna, who was already referring to them as her friends before they even showed up to our house. 🙂 She enjoyed bossing them all around and was very good about sharing her toys with them. They all got along fabulously.
We had a busy and fun time. They got here on the evening of Friday, June 27th. After dinner, we walked to the neighborhood park where the kids played on the playground and Dave and Greg threw the boomerang until the sun set. Dave got himself a nice fat lip when he didn’t quite catch one of his boomerang throws. But I guess it must have been a pretty good throw since it obviously came right back to him.
On Saturday, we braved the crowds at the Denver Zoo. Thankfully we got there early enough so that parking wasn’t horrendous like it can tend to be on weekends.
We were lucky enough to catch the Wildlife Encounters show, where lots of birds fly low overhead and various wild animals perform tricks for the audience. The kids (and adults) loved it.
We were also able to see the elephant show, where the elephant performed a few tricks and even laid down for her trainer. It is amazing and weird to see this large, magnificent animal lay down.
One of Greg’s favorite videos that he caught from the day was a lion hacking up some grass that he’d eaten. I’ll spare you from having to watch it. It is just like watching a housecat hack up a hairball, but on a larger scale. Ick. Here is the lion, sans barf.
And some other various pictures of our enjoyable afternoon.
As a part of their visit, we also went to Casa Bonita. Pretty much the only time we Denverites go to Casa Bonita is with out-of-town guests. LOL. But the kids had a good time and Ben even got to break the pinata.
You should post the lion throwing up, I want to see it;) You got some nice pictures here.
