Greg needed to spend a couple of weeks in Seattle for a work trip. Since it was such a long duration, the rest of us decided to tag along. Since we drove and saved his company on airfare, they were willing to get us a bigger hotel (though it was farther from downtown so Greg […]

Independence Day
Happy Independence Day, everyone! Today I am thankful for this great country that we live in, for sweet and patient friends who helped encourage our Breezy girl to be brave and come to the fireworks show (with headphones), and for delicious “Midwest 4th of July” themed food.
Sun Water
The little girls are out on the deck, stirring water and mint leaves in their water table. Cate told me it is “Sun Water.” Apparently, she was paying attention when Greg made Sun Tea last week. (I suppose I should clarify that Greg did NOT make his tea in the water table, though!)
Visit from Grammy and Grampy
Visiting White Fence Farm with Grammy and Grampy. I love Cate’s “curtsy” in the family picture. We also went bowling with Grammy. Lots of fun with Grammy and Grampy visiting makes for sleepy kids. (Cate has been crashing almost every evening! She thinks she is a “big girl” and doesn’t need a nap these days, […]
Cog Railway up Pike’s Peak
After we checked out of the Broadmoor, we took the Cog Railway up to the top of Pike’s Peak. At the top of Pikes Peak: 14,110 feet! The girls were cold as we’d forgotten to pack our hoodies.
Broadmoor
Greg’s company, Wayin, gave all the employees $500 cash and told them to go do something fun with their families. So we decided to stay a night at the fancy Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs. Something we wouldn’t splurge on normally. It was fun to stay there, but we sure felt out of our element. […]
My Little Hurricate
When the 3yo is quiet and you are assaulted by the strong smell of nail polish as you walk upstairs…not a good sign. Cate painted her fingernails (well, and her fingers), along with a bit of the sink and cabinet. And did I mention a couple of days ago that she cut some of her […]
Twos and Threes
Whoever coined the phrase “terrible twos” must not have yet experienced the temper tantrums of a strong-willed three-year-old. The twos have nothing on the threes. This was a strong-willed rigid-body ball-of-fury tantrum. Although now that the tantrum has run its course, she is back to her sweet, cheery, affectionate self. Thankfully that part of her […]
Hives
Cate got these hives all over her arms and legs. We aren’t sure why or exactly where they came from, other than she had been playing in the backyard.
Last Day of Gymnastics
Last day of gymnastics. Bree was thrilled that Cate was old enough to be in the same class. Bree was very protective of her little sister and also found the courage to try new things when she saw Cate was trying them!
