Adrianna’s play is really evolving. She loves to play with her Little People animals and she is starting to make up little fantasies and scenarios, complete with antagonists. These bad guys usually make a distinctive sound when she plays them and they like to “get” her animals or hit them. Her little animals usually run away, screaming, and hide.
Another even more common scenario that crops us these days is animals looking for their mommies. She will tell me in a sad voice that “Hippo wants his mommy. He’s sad.” When they find their mommies, they become very excited and cry out, “Mommy! Mommy.” Their “Mommies” usually aren’t even the same type of animal, but that doesn’t matter.
Teddy Bear and Care Bear also look for their Mommies. Or Adrianna will point to a picture of someone on our fridge or a random girl walking by who looks friendly and says, “That’s Teddy’s Mommy.”
Sometimes I am told that Care Bear is Adrianna’s Mommy. Hmmm…
She makes up the greatest names for her animals too. Their names are either the type of animal they are (e.g. giraffe, camel) or they are a nonsensical word, like “Fofo” or “Beba.” And their names constantly change so that I can never keep track.
I really wish I could get her playing on video, but every time I bring the camera out she stops. I will have to be more sneaky.
