Candy Land

I bought Adrianna some games recently; Candy Land, Memory, and Chutes and Ladders. They say they are for ages 3+, so I am really excited for the day when she is ready to play them with me.

I decided to see just how ready she might be for them last night, even though she is only 2 ½. First, we tried Candy Land. She didn’t really get it. She is learning her colors and she enjoyed turning over the cards that direct you where to move, but that was about it. The whole actually moving the pieces around the board didn’t interest her at all.

Next, we tried Memory. We had a little more luck with this one, although she still doesn’t quite understand the concept of a “game” and “winning” or taking turns. Or that on your turn you can only turn two cards over. But she does have a pretty good memory, so the rest will come with practice and as she continues to mature.

We did have a good time playing the games. Most of all, I think we both enjoyed just playing the games together.

  1. I’m so excited to start this phase too. Right now Katie loves stacking dominoes like blocks but last night we started playing a simple matching game where she laid one down and found another to match one end, then matched that end..etc. I was so excited to think she’s not too far off from actual games!

I’m sure Adrianna loved having some mama time with a new toy! So cute.

  2. Amber, could you modify the games and play them in a simpler form? What fun to think she is almost to this point!Part of me is sad too that she is growing up so fast. Not Babyanna any more. 🙁
