Last week, Bree attended a “Bike Camp” for kids with autism and other special needs to learn how to ride a bike. I was so impressed with their program! No training wheels! They got the kids riding some adaptive bikes with minutes of their arrival, which was a great confidence builder.
Bree was nervous to go to the camp at first but after the first day, she looked forward to going! She still needs a lot of practice (the finer points of steering in tighter spaces, getting started on her own), but she is doing great and we are so proud of her! For a little girl who struggled to even ride a tricycle until she was much older than her peers or to ride a scooter (low muscle tone, coordination), this is a huge accomplishment.
The smile on her face as she received her medal says it all. I’m so proud of her!
