Kazoo

Cate fell with a kazoo in her mouth today. She punctured the back of her upper palette and damaged her uvula. She hasn’t spoken a word or had anything to eat or drink since. (Which was how we figured out that something serious was going on.) Urgent Care sent us to Children’s Hospital ER where we are waiting for a CT scan.

Greg is at home with the older girls. Bree, the last holdout from this week’s sickness, finally succumbed to the respiratory virus tonight and has a 102 fever. It’s been a rough week for the Reimers.

After 13+ hours of no speech, Cate said her first word. She asked for water. But unfortunately I can’t give her any until the results from the CT scan are back in case she needs surgery. But feeling encouraged that she finally spoke!

Doctor just came in. CT scan looked great (arteries were fine) which means no surgery! Definitely appreciated all prayers and comments tonight. It’s been a long night but we should be cleared to go home in the next hour or so.

We are home (got home about 4:30 a.m.) and Cate is sleeping. She finally did get some water and drank about 12 ounces, though she had to drink slowly and carefully. It is going to be painful for awhile but I am so thankful that it wasn’t worse. Thanks again to everyone for your prayers. They were truly felt tonight. Goodnight…Or rather good morning!
