Marine Biology

Today was the final day of Marine Biology class for Bree and Cate. It was a homeschool class through CU Boulder specifically for homeschoolers, and given the girls’ love for the ocean and its inhabitants, I was happy it fit into our schedule for October. They attended each Wednesday afternoon for 3 hours and they are sad that classes are now over.

The class was originally supposed to be for ages 8-12, but they didn’t have enough participants sign up and were considering canceling the class. Cate knows quite a bit about ocean creatures (Thanks, Octonauts!) so even though she didn’t meet the age limit, I called the director to ask if she could be enrolled to help boost their numbers and keep the class going. They agreed, much to my delight. I am always glad to find extracurriculars or outside classes that can enhance the girls’ learning or that allows them to follow their interests.

While they were at class, I would bring my ESL supplies to a nearby library and do lesson planning and Adrianna stayed home and worked on school assignments.
