A long post about my Breezy girl at 3 years, 2 months old.
Bree has a few new games she likes to play with me.
The first is called “Where did Bree go?” She will prompt me to play by saying, “Whay-oh Bee go?”, at which point she will run and hide behind Greg’s coat by the front door. When I ask the question, then she happily runs across the room to where I am. She always hides in the same place and is content to play this game many, many times in a row.
Another thing she likes to do is transfer our alphabet magnets from one magnetic surface to another. Recently, she has started to bring each one to me first and will request me to “Wook, Mommy. Wook!” and then I either ask her to tell me what letter it is or will inform her of the letter’s name. So far, this has been a great learning tool! She has been able to recognize the upper-case B for quite some time now (ever since we read The B Book together many months ago) and sometimes A and C, but now she is starting to recognize E, H, P, S, U, and W. I love that the learning is happening naturally while we play.
Her Eeyahs (of which she now has three) have a distinct noise that she makes when playing with them imaginatively. Kind of a high-pitched yet soft squeal. One night, Greg pretended to be one of the blue Eeyahs and made it “talk” to Bree, asking her a question to encourage her to say “Yes”. (She says “No” readily but rarely says “Yes” even though we know that sometimes that would be her answer.) He made the Blue Eeyah say, “Hi, Bree. I’m Blue Eeyah. Can I come in your room with you?” Ever since this first dialogue from her Eeyah, Bree often requests us to make them talk to her now. She’ll hold it up to me and say, “Say ‘Hi, Bee! I’m a boo eeyah!” She also makes us kiss them regularly.
We have been working with Bree to try to decrease the frequency at which she screams in frustration. Now that her vocabulary is increasing (and she’s gotten used to having Cate around and isn’t as attention-seeking), she screams less often. Thank goodness! But whenever she sees a cartoon character or toy with its mouth wide open, she tells me it is screaming. hehe. She also sometimes tells me her Eeyahs are screaming (sceeming) or crying (cly-ing).
Bree has a quick memory and a good ear when it comes to music. Adrianna’s piano teacher is amazed that after Adrianna starts learning a new song during her lesson that she’ll often hear Bree in the background, singing the notes. Bree loves music.
It is such a joy watching Bree grow and blossom into this sweet little preschooler. Her vocabulary continues to grow at an astonishing rate. She repeats back many things I say on a regular basis. Including some exasperated “Come on, come on!” exclamations when we are in traffic. 🙂 She loves to go bye-bye. She likes to vocalize her observations about our daily habits regularly too. When Greg is at work, she will point out to me many times during the day that, “Daddy’s at wowk”. It is the same for when Adrianna is at her once-a-week co-op, Options. “Nah-nah’s at aw-shumps”. And another popular one is “Baby Cate’s clying”.
I absolutely adore our little Breezy girl. She makes me smile and laugh every single day. I am so blessed to be her mom.
What a cutie
