Not Ready for Snow

It’s snowing. I am not ready for it to be snowing already. Not ready to say goodbye to my favorite summer clothes, sandals, and fun, strappy, open-toed shoes. Not ready for the cold, for the people who don’t know how to drive faster than 10 mph even when the roads are clear, not ready for the longer commute as a result. I am not ready for my beautiful roses to die or our nice green lawn to turn brown. I don’t want to think about having to bundle up all the time or to have to bundle up my toddler either for that matter, as it means that going anywhere becomes that much more of an ordeal and takes twice as long to get ready. I haven’t even bought Adrianna her winter coat yet. I am not ready.

On the other hand, the mountains are a wonderful sight to behold when they are covered with snow. I love sweaters. I love it when my dogs, with their warm little bodies, lay on my feet. I love having an excuse to snuggle up to Greggor. It makes me look forward to those snowfalls where all is silent, so much so that you swear you can hear the snow falling, and the flakes are large and fluffy and beautiful. It makes me look forward to the holidays and family gatherings. It makes me appreciate a warm house and curling up on the couch with a good book and a bowl of popcorn. I guess it isn’t all bad.

I am not ready for winter either! I love when I need to go somewhere that I can just slip on my sandles and go but now, it is a hassle with shoes, socks, coat, hat, gloves and today boots! and I remember the days of not only having to get myself bundled up to go anywhere, but all 4 of you children as well!! what an ordeal that can be especially if your in a hurry.

I understand all that becasue I feel the same way. What really gets me is that I have a 45 minute drive to work in good weather so I leave even earlier when it’s bad weather & sometimes I still beat my co-workers who live within 15 minutes of work. Go figure.

I like your new snowy design BTW.

Hey! I’m new to your blog, but I love the way you describe autumn/winter! I love it too, although not the way people drive at 10mph! Gah!
    Later x

You’d better hope to the good Lord above that certain great-grandmothers with the last name Reimer don’t ever hear that you haven’t bought Adrianna a winter coat yet. Greg got told he had s*** for brains when he wouldn’t put his socks on while walking around the house. Of course, that was a stressful time in all our lives.

LOL. I still cannot believe that happened. G Reimer has such a personality. She would be glad to hear that Adrianna now has a winter coat. And snow pants. Both are pink. I never used to think I would dress up my little girl in pink, but after she was born I changed my mind because it turned out to be a lot of fun. And two hats and pairs of mittens. Any most importantly, many pairs of socks.

We had our first flakes yesterday, and it was 35 degrees at the bus stop this morning, with wind. I was already dreading winter, but you make it sound pretty good after all. Even your blog template makes the whole idea cheery!

At least people drive slower where you are, here the snowy, icy roads somehow encourage the idiocy in people, so they think they are indestructable and they actually drive FASTER. Maybe they are taking the phrase, “blanket of snow” to heart and think it’ll break their “fall”?? Crazy!
