I hate insurance

I really hate having to deal with insurance. It sucks. I thought Adrianna was covered by Greg’s health insurance plan through his workplace since several earlier claims had been paid AND she was listed as covered on the United Healthcare website. But, as it turns out, we were supposed to call in to have her added within 60 days of her birth. Again, she was listed on the website under his policy. Because of that, I assumed she was covered already. Big mistake on my part. Greg called them today, and since it has been more than 60 days, they tell us there is nothing they can do. Greg even spoke with a supervisor who told him that it was impossible to add her until the next period where changes are allowed, which would make it so that we would have to wait until January of 2006! The supervisor said that the computer “wouldn’t let her do it”. Which sounds like a big pile of you-know-what to me. I cannot imagine a computer system that would absolutely not allow a supervisor to do some type of override. But whatever.

Sooo…we had to go out and purchase a separate healthcare plan for Adrianna today. This way, she will be covered until January when we can get her switched over to our current plan. What a headache. This also means that we will be responsible for paying for her last couple of doctor’s visits and immunizations, which, so far has added up to $400.

I shudder to think what the neurologist’s visit is going to cost us, as that bill has yet to come.

I hate insurance too. I had quite the run-around just trying to get insurance through my bank, and then again when I was adding zach to it. What a mess! We finally got things worked out though!
