Garbage

Early this morning as I drove off for work (around 6 a.m.), I saw, from my rear view mirror, this lady go over to my driveway and begin digging through our garbage that was sitting on the curb waiting for the garbage truck. I have seen her dig through neighborhood garbage many times before and guessed that she probably did ours too, but it was quite disconcerting to actually see it. Shouldn’t that be illegal? While I honestly do feel bad that anyone would be in such dire straits that they would dig through garbage, it also bothers me. I feel as if my privacy has been invaded. And I worry especially about identity theft. Thankfully, I diligently use the shredder my mom bought me several years ago on pretty much all our mail that we get. But I think I had better invest in one of those cross-cut shredders to be extra safe. Or maybe I should throw our mail away in the same garbage bag as all of Adrianna’s diapers. Ick.

i know exactly how you feel though cause that happened to me once. remember when we had to take our garbage to the dump ourselves as there was no trash pickup here? we had just dumped our garbage and were STILL STANDING THERE and an old lady started digging through it with a pointy stick thing, she ripped the bags apart and just starting spreading it around looking for whatever it was that she was looking for. i dont believe they allow people to do that anymore at the dump. I am so glad i have trash pick up now though, that was the ickiest thing ever having to go to that dump. at that time they used to also dump dead animals there too right where we had to take our garbage. what a barbaric town. I was one of the very first people to sign up for that t.d.s trash removal service out here remember? then most everyone out here followed my example. guess i had to bring up the standards around here.

Well, if I lived near Beverly Hills I might join the rankls of dumster divers who (I hear) regularly find TVs and nice furniture and stuff.
