Quite often, I am requested to talk to her toys or sing <em>Happy Birthday<\/em> to them by name; especially her Teddy Bear, Care Bear, Big Bear, Brown Bear, Baby Bear, or White Bear. (Aren&#8217;t we creative with our naming convention?)<\/p>\n<p>This afternoon she brought me a rectangle from a shapes puzzle. In the habit of talking to whatever toy she presents to me, I said, &#8220;Hi, Rectangle.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Adrianna was quick to tell me, &#8220;Rectangles don&#8217;t talk, Mommy.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Silly me.<\/p>\n<p>We are listening to Christmas music as this all is going on, which prompted a conversation about how we are going to see family in just a few days. Adrianna&#8217;s face lit up when I mentioned that she would get to play with her cousin Charlie.
