In the word-learning process, sometimes Adrianna mistakes two words, that are often said together, as being ONE thing\/word rather than two. For instance, she had initially learned the word “shoes” but we most often used the word shoes when telling her that we needed to “Put your shoes on.” She heard the words “shoes on” together so often then she began calling shoes “shoes on.”<\/p>\n

This also became the case with our childcare provider, Janette. All the kids call her Nette and after picking Adrianna up from Janette’s house, I would often ask Adrianna, “Did you have fun at Nette’s house?” Or, we would see Janette’s house so I would say, “There’s Nette’s house.” Eventually, Adrianna began calling Janette “Nette’s house” rather than just Nette.<\/p>\n
