But we decided they were important and couldn’t be put off any longer.

Orthodontics

First up was Adrianna’s orthodontic appointment. Due to Coronavirus restrictions, I can’t go in with her, so I waited in the car. She went in, wearing a mask, and got her braces tightened.

Cardiologist

Then I went home long enough for a quick lunch and then I was off to see my cardiologist, Dr. V. I’ve been having SVT episodes roughly once a month. Usually they only last for about 5ish minutes, but in June I had one that lasted for 30 minutes. And of course it was the one time I was away from home and didn’t have my medicine to take that could help. Ugh. I did the “bearing down” tip and it helped bring it down a little.

Also, my blood pressure has been high since at least January (when I first noticed after checking it on a whim at a BP machine at a local rec center.) I’d been discussing if I should get on meds with my primary care doctor back in February, and we’d decided to take a wait-and-see approach to see if it stayed high. Even after taking 1-1.5 mile walks several times a week, it hasn’t decreased, and today at the office, it was 150/100 which is terrible. So Dr. V decided to put me on regular daily medicine (Metoprolol ER Succinate 25mg Tab.) This medicine can help both the blood pressure and the high heart rate.

I was quite worried about starting this new medicine because of the dire warning that once you start taking it, you can’t just stop without the possibility of serious side-effects (chest pain, heart issues, etc!) After texting with Zach tonight, I am feeling a little more at ease about taking the meds though. He said he prescribes it all the time and it is what he’d take if he were in the situation. That helped a lot.

Dentist and Tooth Pulling

Our final appointment of the day was to take the girls to the dentist. It was another appointment we’d put off for several months. Bree’s been having a problem with her breath, and I was concerned, so I decided we’d better take the risk. I’m so glad we did! Poor Breezy had two baby teeth that should’ve fallen out months ago. The permanent teeth were already coming in behind them and the gums around the baby teeth were swollen and infected and painful. Poor girl. So they numbed her up and pulled them. She had laughing gas and watched The Lego Movie and did great! Hopefully brushing her teeth and eating will all be easier now. Also, Cate had four cavities in her six-year molars, though they weren’t her fault – her teeth had naturally formed pockets in them. So we’ll go back in September to get those fixed. (Adrianna had the same problem when she was younger – it’s genetic.)

Today we had three different medical appointments, two of which were overdue appointments that we rescheduled because of the pandemic.
