She didn’t have any other symptoms (other than the expected lack of energy and appetite) until Sunday evening when she developed a gross-sounding cough and chills, so I took her to the doctor on Monday.<\/p>\n
They tested her for the flu and the results came back positive right away. They did not test for H1N1 specifically, as you have to go to the hospital to get that test. However, the doctor did say that the majority of the flu cases they were seeing and treating right now are H1N1. When the doctor noticed I was pregnant, she wrote me a prescription for Tamiflu and gave me a mask to wear around Adrianna since pregnant women, as well as people with diabetes, are on the high-risk list for complications from H1N1. I am currently not showing any symptoms, thankfully, and neither is Greg.<\/p>\n
I was concerned about the Tamiflu because before the whole H1N1 scare, it wasn’t regularly recommended during pregnancy. But I called my OB\/GYN today and he agreed that I should be taking it as a precaution since I have been exposed to what is very possibly H1N1, so that made me feel a little better.<\/p>\n
To monitor how she was doing last night, we had her sleep on the couch (while we were still awake) and then Greg carted up her old crib mattress and made a bed for her on our bedroom floor for overnight. I liked having her close by.<\/p>\n
Today, her fever was down to 99 and 100, for which we are very thankful. But she is still hoarse and has that awful-sounding cough and now that late evening is here, the fever is creeping back. She is sleeping on the couch again with Teddy.<\/p>\n
