A few weeks back, we visited PF Changs for dinner. Below is an approximation of an actual conversation that took place as we were being seated.<\/p>\n
Host<\/strong>: Right this way, folks.
\nAdrianna (to me)<\/strong>: Mommy, he called us FOLKS<\/em>!
\nMe<\/strong>: That’s okay. That is just another way to address a group of people.
\nAdrianna<\/strong>: Folks are people?
\nMe<\/strong>: Yes, that’s right.
\nAdrianna<\/strong>: I’m<\/em> not a folk. I’m a little girl.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\nI am not sure what brought this back to her mind, but Adrianna asked me about it again today.<\/p>\n
Adrianna<\/strong>: Mommy, folks are people, right?
\nMe<\/strong>: That’s right.
\nAdrianna<\/strong>: And people are humans, right?
\nMe<\/strong>: Yes, that is correct.
\nAdrianna<\/strong>: The guy at PF Changs called us folks, right?
\nMe<\/strong>: Yes, he did…you have a good memory!
\nAdrianna<\/strong>: Mommy, but I am not a folk. I am a little girl, right?<\/p><\/blockquote>\nShe appends “right?” to the end of many sentences these days. (Another thing she often appends to sentences is, “Did you know that?”.)<\/p>\n
She makes me laugh every day. I just wish I could remember all the funny things she says these days. I am glad she brought this conversation back up as I meant to write it down when it originally happened.
