Greg scared the dogs away and brought Petey inside.

Poor Petey was in very bad shape. We rushed him to the emergency vet, but we were too late. Most of his injuries were internal and they were extensive, so even if we had gotten him there before he died, I don’t think there would have been anything they could do for him.

Petey always stayed so close to our house and was such a good, reliable, easy kitty. My heart just hurts every time I think about how badly he was injured by those darn dogs. They were running loose (against the law) and attacked him on our porch of all things. I just did not ever imagine such an awful scenario happening to our poor kitty.

We are waiting a return call from animal control so we can file a report. I don’t know if they would be able to find the owners, but if they do, I am considering pressing charges.

Petey was a good, albeit quirky, cat. He drooled when you pet him, shed way too much, sharpened his claws in all the wrong places, and when he was younger, he enjoyed chasing me around the house like a psycho kitty. He enjoyed being petted by Adrianna and the neighbor kids (on his terms, of course). He always stuck close to our house and if we went for a walk, he would follow for a house or two before stopping and then yowling at us. He sure could project his meow for quite a distance. Sometimes he would get a crazy look in his eye and dart out at our feet as we would walk by him, almost skittering across the ground sideways with his tail poofed and his back arched. We will sure miss him.

We love you Petey.

Our kitty, Petey (aka Dr Peter Jones), was killed last night.
