When I found a posting on another blog (by Tom Perrault) about a new t-shirt put out by Planned Parenthood that proudly states “I had an abortion”, I am sure my jaw dropped and hit the floor while my eyebrows raised up into my hairline. I just had to see for myself, and sure enough, there really is such a thing. You can see this shirt for yourself at the Planned Parenthood Yahoo Store. I am so saddened by this new display of where our culture is headed. While abortion is readily accepted in our culture today, I do not know of anyone who actually would want to broadcast the fact that they had an abortion in such a callous way. I have a sinking feeling in my chest as my heart hurts just thinking about this…

I’ll admit it. I suffer from a mild case of road rage. Driving in heavy traffic gets my heart pounding, my jaw clenches, and I can feel my temper and stress-level rising.

To get to my class at Colorado Christian University yesterday evening, I took I-25 to 6th Ave, because that is the way that Mapquest recommended (Mistake #1). Last night, there was an accident right at I-25 and 6th Ave. After wasting probably an extra 20-30 minutes or more sitting in the parking lot that is also known as I-25 (Mistake #2), the radio guy reported the accident. Well, thanks for the information, but I could have used the info 20-30 minutes ago! Anyways, if you would have been along I-25 yesterday, you would have seen me gesturing wildly and yelling at all the stupid people in front of me. Where do all these people think that they have to be anyways? No profanity, mind you, and no birds. And my windows are always up, as I would never have the audacity to actually yell at people who could actually hear me. But my frustration was coming out just the same.

Which leads me to another thought: Don’t you wish life was like the SIMS where you could see a bubble above everyone in traffic that would indicate where they are headed or their thoughts? I always thought that would be pretty interesting, albeit sometimes scary too.

I forgot to mention – my parents bought 2 motorcycles for themselves. I guess they are pretty excited… I will have to post some pictures of them and their new toys to our photo gallery soon.

Talked to Kristy yesterday. I sure miss her a lot now that she is in Springs. One thing I have always thought was way cool about our friendship though is the way we can go forEVER without hearing from each other, but once we do finally talk, it is as if we had just seen each other yesterday and no time has passed. I think those kinds of friends are priceless.

We went and saw this movie on Saturday. Good movie. The title character is quite the geek. I am glad we went during opening week so that the rest of the audience would also appreciate the film. Movies are always best viewed with a crowd who really appreciates or anticipates seeing the movie. (i.e. Lord of the Rings at the opening/midnight showing where only the die-hard fans wait in line that late on a weekday.)

Would I recommend this movie? Well, maybe I will – GOSH!!!

I cannot believe how much sleep I have lost over the dread of having to prepare and for and present a 3 minute information speech due on Thursday!

Well, I started my Speech/Oral Communications class at Colorado Christian University last night. I can already tell that I am not going to do well. We had to do an impromptu speech too on our first night-Yikes! This class really makes me nervous, which I guess is why I have avoided it like the plague in my previous 2-3 years of college. I suck at making speeches! Thankfully I do alright at work when I have to lead training sessions, but conference calls are better because the end-users I deal with cannot see my reliance on my notes! I guess those training calls would be considered “demonstrative” speeches in a way since, using NetMeeting demonstrations, I walk the users through how to utilize the forms and their enhancements.

*sigh* I cannot wait until this class is over…

I ran across this quote in an article by Kristen McNulty. I found it quite convicting and thought I would share it. All too often I have been just a pew warmer in a church. Even now, when I am actively involved with the worship team at church, I still feel as if I am missing something when it comes to our Christian community here. While there are several people I have met and am friendly with, and a few I would actually consider “friends”, there are many more that I have not made much of an effort to get to know. I am too comfortable inside my little box. I wonder how many other pew warmers we have at church that would get involved if they simply felt accepted and welcomed as part of our community by myself and other “regulars”?

Well, we are back from Omaha. We always have so much fun and get homesick while we are there. I think Omaha will always hold a special place in our hearts, especially since we still have so many friends living there.

Our time with Shad and Lynette was great. Chloe and Molly had a good time with Belle and Maggie. It was great having four dachshunds running all over the place. We are trying to talk Shad and Lynette into moving to Colorado…

We got to see Bryon while we were there too. Congrats to him and Maria as they are expecting their first child in January – how exciting!

We unfortunately did not have enough time in Omaha to visit long, which was a bummer. I regret that I was unable to visit everyone. Maybe next time we will have more vacation time built up so we can fit more Omaha time in.

So, we are in Omaha visiting Shad and Lynette. They took us to this new restaurant here, Cheeseburger in Paradise. This place was awesome. The live music was great and so was the food. This place has a lot of references to Jimmy Buffet. Very cool place. I would recommend it to anyone, although you may have a LONG wait to get in.

Hooray – we have a new weblog! I have been begging Greg to get us one that I can easily log into from anywhere, so *hopefully* I will be able to post more musings and babblings on here now. We’ll see…
