On Feeling Appreciated

Over the past few months, Ann and I have had to create probably 300+ test forms for different training classes at work. We spent many hours on this project. Today, two of the trainers came up and asked if we could come downstairs and meet some of the newbies they are training. We gladly accepted since these are to be our new coworkers that we are there to support. These two trainers in particular are also my coworkers that work at different divisions/markets in our company; one out of Georgia and one out of Florida. So even though we have been working “together” for 5 years, I have only met them face to face a couple times during special conferences here in Colorado.

When we got down to the training room, Dan and Kathy gave us a beautiful bouquet of flowers, a card signed by everyone in the class, and some very kind words of appreciation for all our hardwork in preparation for their training class and just what we do for them in general. I was speechless and fighting back tears. I love our team, both those who work here in Colorado and those who work out in the field. They are all such great people. Their kindness and appreciation has really made my day. I could not ask for better coworkers, as they are the absolute best.

I was also glad that they noted our creativity with the Company Names that we made for the forms. We had to come up with many unique company names for the training scenarios, so we played off of popular movies like Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, X-Men, and Office Space. So we had company names like Initech, Chotchkies, Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes, etc. The participants in the class said they enjoyed seeing each new form name and could see our personalities coming through them. 🙂

I was so excited and upbeat, so I emailed Greg to share my happiness. Of course me being happy made him happy too.

When I got home from work, I was greeted by the delicious smell of my favorite type of cake: chocolate with chocolate frosting. Greg had baked me a cake to further celebrate my awesome day of work. Too sweet.

Speaking of sweet, Greg and I just had our 8 year anniversary of togetherness. September 18th marked 8 years from the day he first asked me out on a date. Time sure does fly by.
