Party at Mike’s

Last night Greg and I attended a housewarming/poker party at Mike’s. It was quite fun. We had Adrianna along, so I didn’t play poker but watched her instead while Greg played. She was once again a little angel. I got to meet the wives/girlfriends of some of Greg’s work friends, so that was really cool.

After the first, long round of poker was done, someone pulled out Mike’s guitar and made Greg play. And then several people started singing. It was hokey and fun at the same time.

Philippe loves babies so he held and rocked Adrianna for quite some time. It is so cool to see this rough ‘n tough bearded guy who just goes ga-ga over babies. Adrianna was afraid of him when we first got there, but she warmed up to him after awhile. I think she is just in that stage where she is wary of any stranger at first. Especially men.

Yesterday was also Veterans Day. One of my favorite parts of the evening was when Philippe got out an American flag. I think it was from some sort of remembrance field in Broomfield for all the soldiers who have died in the Iraq War. He read off the name of the soldier it was for. It was for a 23 year old guy from Indiana. We all lifted our glasses in salute to this brave young man who had given his life for our freedoms. It brought tears to my eyes. Someone started saying the Pledge of Allegiance and then everyone joined in. It was a great moment. It was just one more reminder of how thankful we all should be to all the soldiers who have given their lives over the years so that we can enjoy our freedom. And to the families who have lost loved ones in war. What a sacrifice.

We didn’t get back until after 1:00 a.m. What a great night. Thankfully Adrianna slept pretty good both at the party (Philippe rocked her to sleep) and through the night.

Hopefully little Adrianna will retain that wariness of strange men! Not a bad quality to have nowadays!
